Friends and supporters of Hypernet,

Thank you for your continued enthusiasm for our project. We appreciate the community’s strong interest in our token sale and whitelisting procedures. As you know, we continue to work hard to turn Hypernet into a success and keep you, the community, up to date as we progress. The HyperToken is very important to us; it represents the method to unlock the next wave of peer-to-peer, in-network analytics. Ensuring that we launch the tokens when they will see maximum adoption and utility is our top priority.

We know you are all waiting to receive news about the specific dates of Hypernet’s public token sale. However, after listening to the community, partner input, and thoughtful reflection, we have determined that in the current environment, it is not beneficial for the community, nor for the adoption of the protocol, to initiate a public token sale or whitelist at this time.

While we had contemplated having our token sale this month, we will proactively postpone this date. Although we legally cannot guarantee that we will have a public token sale, this is our intention at this time. It is important to carry out a token sale as soon as it is in the best interest of the protocol and its stakeholders, and this decision is made with the interests of everyone in our community in mind.

That being said, we greatly appreciate the support leading up to this announcement, and would like to provide you with some information that we believe you will find helpful and interesting. Please read below to see select details on our token metrics, KYC overview, and plans regarding how to begin using Hypernet and acquiring HyperToken.

Long Term Focus of Hypernet: We believe delaying our sale is another example of Hypernet’s desire to make decisions in the long-term interest of the protocol and token holders. Other examples of this long-term focus include:

1. We have been selective with token purchasers to date.
Only 4% of applicants have been granted allocations in the private sale. We oversubscribed our softcap, while purposefully leaving room for the community. Although there have been many more requests for allocations than we could accommodate, Hypernet has a strict due diligence and KYC process, and even stricter internal criteria for choosing strategic purchasers.

2. The private sale had very long lock-ups, indicating intrinsic support from purchasers.
Our goal was to design a structure that was fair and transparent. As a result, we determined that priced tiers would be best.

Our private sale had a tiered pricing format which had an inverse correlation between price per token and the length of lock-up (refer to table below). The long lock-up for private sale purchasers points to the fact that their interests are aligned with the long-term vision of Hypernet, and the ecosystem we are working to create.

3. We are focused on building strong corporate foundations.
Hypernet has been working closely with the law firm of choice for some of the largest technology companies in the world to ensure that we are in an optimal position to thrive in complex and rapidly developing regulatory environments. This will always be foundational for Hypernet, as we think regulation will be a large barrier to success for many otherwise promising projects.

4. Token metrics are fair and balanced (lockups for all in the private sale, in order to be fair to all).

All that said, we are happy to release a selection of our token metrics below and give you a sense of where things are at.

– TOKEN METRICS –

Total tokens: 100 million tokens

Hardcap: $15m

Team lock-up: 4 year lockup with 1 year cliff, then linear release

While the date and terms of our public token sale are yet to be released, we can at least share some details of the sale’s structure, and items to have in mind when considering how we think about whitelisting and KYC:

It’s important to know in advance that our sale process will be more rigorous than what you are perhaps used to. Our long-term vision requires that great attention is paid to regulatory compliance. With this, our token sale process cannot be fully automated, as it is with some other projects. Our jurisdictional compliance officers must manually approve each successful application — a process which can take up to a week. Only purchasers who meet our due diligence and regulatory criteria may participate in the sale. Here are our suggestions on a couple documents you might want to prepare in advance:

1. A clear image of your driver’s license or passport.
2. A certified copy of a recent utility bill showing your name and address.

However, everyone will have the opportunity to participate in the Hypernet Lobby where you can earn uptime rewards. The Lobby is where computers are held on standby while waiting to be matched with a job. While they are waiting, they are rewarded with an amount of HyperToken just for being available on the network. The Lobby will slowly be opened to participants alongside the token sale. The first participants in the Lobby will have the easiest time earning HyperToken, and there will be a system to determine who will be the first people to participate in the Lobby. The details of this system will be released closer to the token sale and launch of the Lobby.

We would like to reiterate our appreciation for your support, and also that we are confident that holding off on the token sale will be of benefit to everyone involved. The core of Hypernet though, our technology, product, and business development continue at full speed. Look out for announcements soon regarding lobby participation, partnerships, app downloads, and more!

February 2019 Token Purchaser

Update Greetings and salutations from the Hypernet team! As always, thank you for your support and your interest in this project. Between hiring, launching an alpha product, and a number of other developments, February was a big month for us.  We are hugely encouraged by our progress and by the responses we’ve received from our alpha users thus far.

We’re also excited to share that these updates will be more frequent going forward. A new update will be delivered at the beginning of every month, with a video update once per quarter. Your support is crucial to this project’s success, so it’s important to us that our Token Purchasers are up to date with the latest and greatest news from Hypernet, and that we have clear lines of communication with you. As always, please let us know if you have any questions, or if there's anything we can do to be helpful.

How you can be helpful right now

We have already begun shipping the alpha product to early adopters and plan to continue sending it to more users every week. If you know potential users who would be interested in pre-release access, please send them our way! Here are a few brief profiles of ideal first users:

Labs or classrooms with many computers and with a need for additional, inexpensive compute power

Students and researchers who run simulations on a regular basis

Data scientists who need to run computations remotely, especially if they don’t want to deal with command lines, complicated cloud servers, or convoluted methods for accessing high performance clusters

We are also launching a ‘supply-side community.’ This is a way for supporters to get involved by adding their computers to our test network. If you or those close to you are interested in helping to create the world’s first truly decentralized supercomputer, you can sign up here!

Alpha Product Development

The technical team has been hard at work developing the first product on the network. This month we launched our alpha product to a closed group of heavy compute users. The product demonstrates the basic functionality of facilitating the processing of computational jobs on remote machines and seamlessly deploying users’ computational work to the network.  These can be other machines that users own or friends’ machines that are linked via the product. We are now in the process of gathering extensive feedback from users, squashing bugs, prioritizing new features, and setting the roadmap for the next development steps.

Weekly Hypernet design meeting

Our development process is extremely user-centric. Early responses have been positive, and we’re excited to continue placing the product in the hands of professionals to understand the nuances of their computational workflows.  We have noticed that users are already finding new and interesting use cases for the product that we had never even predicted. Their insight will help us shape the product to deliver the best experience possible to our existing and future users. Our primary goal is to deliver a product that people love to use, that removes all friction from their existing workflow. We have a long way to go, but we’re extremely encouraged by the results of these first few steps of launching the alpha and by the great early feedback we’ve received.

The roadmap for the product’s next phase is quickly taking shape, as we begin to see how people actually use the product in their real daily workflow.  We are getting a very clear idea as to which features we should prioritize next. We will have much more to report in next month’s update, after we’ve had a chance to hold in-depth discussions with many more alpha users.

Team Building

Jennifer Hudson joined the team in February as our Market and Communication Strategist. She brings with her a background in political science, political theory, and international relations, with a PhD from Columbia University.  She is experienced with social scientific tools for understanding market power dynamics and social climate, which helps her to effectively and strategically nurture relationships between Hypernet, its stakeholders, and its users, on both the demand and supply sides of the network.  Jennifer is articulating and helping to implement a vision of the future in which our business model is aligned with users’ intentions, needs, values, and vision of themselves.

Elliot Shohet joined the team in February as a Blockchain Engineer. He hit the ground running and has been helpful on a number of different fronts. Elliot started programming at the age of 12, attained a computer science degree from UC Davis, and joined the blockchain space in 2013 when he first discovered bitcoin. In 2017, he started smart contract development for the Ethereum blockchain and he has advised and developed for blockchain companies.  Elliot brings a variety of skills and experiences to the team, and we're thrilled to have him on board.

We have a few more hires slated for March-April, and we will profile those new team members in subsequent updates. Our engineering team is taking shape, and we’re really excited to have more capacity to build the product.

Business Development

We’ve had a lot of success doing cold outreach for our alpha product, and we’ve enjoyed a much higher than expected response rate. We take this as validation for our assessment of the problem we are addressing and the need and demand for the solution we have created. Many of the folks to whom we’ve reached out are enthusiastic about what we’re building, and they are quickly being converted to alpha users. We have contacted hundreds of computational researchers at large universities and in the private sector. We’re also carefully tracking this pipeline to start generating a user acquisition model backed by real metrics.

In addition, we’ve kicked off a couple of early conversations with large corporations who could potentially deploy our product internally to maximize the usage and efficiency of their existing machines. This is particularly exciting for us because those engagements could yield significant results on both the demand and supply sides for computing power on the network.

Communication and Marketing

We have begun recruitment for an exclusive information sharing and product testing group via Project Magellan. The aims of this project are twofold: 1) To re-engage the Hypernet community by getting them involved as active participants on our test network and 2) to draw attention to the technological progress that has already been made, as well as the larger implications of breakthrough Hypernet technology.  We will be rolling out a supply side application for the Project Magellan group in April. We are currently experimenting with deploying large computational jobs across many disconnected devices and will continue the experiments with the widened test net. Again, if you are interested in participating in the world’s largest decentralized supercomputer, sign up here!

In addition to this test group, we are ramping up our content delivery. In the coming weeks and months, look for more videos, blog posts, commentary, support, and engagement in all of our channels. Our updated Hypernet website is looking great and should go live by the end of March.

Conclusion

Many large milestones were hit this month. The alpha was released in our closed group of testers, Project Magellan was kicked off in the community, and our user outreach is yielding critical information to shape our product into a portal for accessing compute power for all those who need it. We’re thrilled to have some new hires on board, and we have majorly increased capacity for engineering, marketing, and business development. Stay tuned for more as we continue building the technology, refining the product, and bringing Hypernet up to full functionality with a captive user base.

Hypernet, по их собственным словам, находятся в состоянии "взлёта" (так называется стадия закрытого бета-тестирования блокчейна), и собираются перейти в фазу активного набора пользователей. Сегодня по этому поводу был опубликован роадмап
